The ever so hunky Channing Tatum graces the cover of the February 2012 issue of Details Magazine, and I think you will all agree, he looks quite handsome, doesn’t he? He recently spent an afternoon with the mag and talked about some of his upcoming films, including the romantic drama, The Vow, due out on February 10, (just in time for Valentine’s Day), his hopes for future films he’ll take part in and much, much more. Check out some snippets of his interview, plus another gorgeous shot of the actor below. The 31-year-old Tatum, whose first foray into the entertainment world was that of a model, (gee, no surprise there), has several films due out this year. Five of them will be released in the next six months! To say he’s been quite busy is an understatement, eh? As mentioned above, The Vow, which co-stars Rachel McAdams as his wife, is based on the true story of a woman involved in a serious car accident who loses her memory. It’s up to Tatum to do whatever it takes to get her to remember their love for one another. Yep, got that movie marked on my calendar. I’ll be sure to [...]

Britney Spears spent the weekend celebrating her engagement to Jason Trawick in Las Vegas with friends and family. On Friday, hours after the news of their impending marriage was confirmed, the singer took to her Facebook page to make it official, changing her relationship status to "engaged."

She also shared with her fans on Twitter just how excited she is to be tying the knot with longtime boyfriend Trawick. "Still glowing!" she wrote. "About to jump on a plane to Planet Hollywood in Vegas. Throwing a Bday Party for Jason at Chateau Night Club. So fun. Xxoo. And celebrate they did. People.com reported that the couple and her two sons checked into Planet Hollywood before making their first public appearance since the news broke. Spears rocked not only a body-hugging Hervé Léger bandage dress, but also her Neil Lane engagement ring. The couple shared dinner and dancing at two Sin City hotspots, Sugar Factory's Chocolate Lounge and Paris' Chateau Nightclub. "Tonight was one of the most magical nights of my life," she later wrote on Twitter. "Such an amazing time with my new fiance and our closest friends and family. #Blessed" While Spears was celebrating, her ex-husband Kevin Federline sent out his well-wishes. "I'm really happy for her — I think he's a great guy," he told TV Week magazine while filming the reality show "Excess Baggage" in Australia. "She's happy; she's doing really well. I want to say she's in a good place. I haven't spoken to her much since I've been over here, both of us have been busy with her being on tour, but I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids' teachers that they're doing really good. It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her." And Federline doesn't seem to have any hard feelings toward Trawick. "He's a really good guy, I've heard a lot about him," he added. "I've spoken to him quite a few times as of now. He seems like a really good guy. The kids speak highly of him [and] her family loves him."

Share your well-wishes for Britney and Jason in the comments!

‘Battleship’ takes pop star from Billboard to big screen, while Taylor Swift and Brooklyn Decker forge ahead in new career paths.
By Kara Warner

During this optimistic first week of the new year, it’s time to think about our favorite entertainers who are poised to make a big impact outside their typical areas of expertise. We’re talkin’ crossovers, of course, including multitalented musicians-turned-actors, actors-turned-musicians, models-turned-actors, actors-turned-authors, wrestlers-turned-actors and other hyphenates!
Here’s a look at a few of the stars who are making moves in new directions this year:
Rihanna
We’ve glimpsed her acting chops during performances and dramatic videos, but this year, RiRi is making the big move from music to movies with a role in the expected summer blockbuster “Battleship,” due May 18. Not much has been revealed about her character yet, but we did get a brief look at her in action as a strong, capable Marine in the trailer. We also see her wielding a rather large gun alongside co-star Taylor Kitsch.
Brooklyn Decker
Speaking of attractive “Battleship” stars, swimsuit model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker continues to carve out a new niche in her career. The blond beauty made a splash in last year’s “Just Go With It,” alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, and will next be seen in the ensemble romantic comedy “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” in which Decker plays Dennis Quaid’s much younger wife. “Expecting” opens one week ahead of “Battleship,” in which she plays Liam Neeson’s daughter and Kitsch’s girlfriend.
Chris Brown
Although he’s still devoting the majority of his time to music, Chris Brown is broadening his horizons with forays into directing and acting. First up is Wale’s clip for “Slight Work,” which Brown co-directed with Godfrey Tabarez. He told MTV News recently that the gig didn’t even feel like work. “This video is just fun,” he said. “I mean, we’re young, so it’s only right to just do what we wanna do.” Brown will also continue to pursue acting jobs in 2012, the first of which is “Planet B Boy,” likely followed by a role in “Think Like a Man,” based on the Steve Harvey book.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has already has crossover success musically, when she went from a country singer to a mainstream sensation. This year, after her big-screen debut in 2011′s star-stuffed “Valentine’s Day” opposite then-boyfriend Taylor Lautner, it seems likely that Swift will once again be up on the big screen. Rumor has it the 22-year-old has been offered a role in the equally star-studded movie musical “Les Misérables,” alongside Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter and possibly Amanda Seyfried. Fan reaction to the news has been mixed, but if she doesn’t end up in that film, we’re confident she’ll wind up in another soon enough.
Honorable Mention: The Rock
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson deserves a lot of credit for becoming a successful and exceedingly popular wrestler with the WWE to begin with, the momentum from which he turned into an equally lucrative film career. Then last year he returned to the world of wrestling after a nearly seven-year hiatus, which was received with fans losing their minds, in a good way. Check out the video for proof. A few months later, he returned to the big screen in “Fast Five,” which was one of the year’s biggest hits at the box office. And don’t forget his musical “stylings” on Wyclef Jean’s catchy tune “It Doesn’t Matter.” The man cannot be stopped. Not only that, but after years of being branded simply as “The Rock,” he is just as often referred to by his real name, Dwayne Johnson.
Perhaps we should consider awarding the most successful of this year’s crossover stars with a “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Crossover Star of Achievement” trophy?

Congratulations and Best Wishes go out to Beyonce and Jay-Z, as their little baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter, was born Saturday night. I looove that name! Beyonce gave birth in New York, via C-section (which was scheduled) and reportedly had checked into Lenox Hill Hospital Friday night under the name Ingrid Jackson. After announcing she was pregnant at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, it wasn’t long before rumors ran rampant that Beyonce’s pregnancy was a fake. Shame on those who started that ridiculous rumor. I mean, really! It was never confirmed when her due date was, and reports suggested that Bey would give birth in February, later there were claims she was having a Christmas baby. Nonetheless, Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter has arrived! I cannot wait to see pictures of Blue Ivy! I’m guessing she’s absolutely gorgeous! Security guards could be seen outside of the hospital, and the couple reportedly have rented out the fourth floor to the tune of $1.3 million. Wowzers. According to the NY Daily News, doctors and nurses were even prohibited from going to their floor. Security has been quite strict at Lenox Hill, with employees having to hand in their cell phones at [...]

After ‘Ye mentioned his possible involvement in the film, Denise Di Novi tells MTV News about a ‘fun brainstorming conversation’ with the MC.

Kanye West
Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/ Getty Images
In what would easily be the coolest movie news of 2012, Kanye West dropped word in the midst of a scorching series of Twitter updates that he was in discussions to join up with a long-gestating adaptation of “The Jetsons.”
“I was just discussing becoming the creative director for the Jetson movie,” he wrote.
Could it be true? The live-action adaptation of the futuristic Hanna-Barbera cartoon — starring George Jetson, his boy Elroy, daughter Judy, Jane his wife, plus their robot maid Rosie — has been in development for years, with Robert Rodriguez attached to direct at one point. MTV News put in a call to producer Denise Di Novi, who confirmed that talks with ‘Ye had indeed taken place.
“Kanye’s always been a Jetsons fan, I think because he’s so into design and he loves the design aspects,” she told us exclusively. “So we had a fun brainstorming conversation.”
The call took place after West touched base with producers and told them he was interested in working on the project. “We heard that he knew we were working on the Jetsons,” Di Novi said. “He reached out and said he’s a huge Jetsons fan. There are a lot of Jetsons fanatics out there, especially people that are into either futuristic science or design. He was interested in creatively brainstorming what we were doing with the movie and what ideas he might have. It was a really friendly, preliminary conversation.”
At this point, though, Di Novi is unsure if Kanye will actually sign on to become creative director of “The Jetsons.” “He was going to think about it more and see if he got inspired visually,” she said. “He’s a very visual artist.”
Kanye did mention in his Twitter spree that he was annoyed about one suggestion that arose during the conversation. “Someone on the call yelled out.. you should do a Jetsons tour!” he wrote. “This just happened a few hours ago. I was very insulted of course because for anyone that’s seen the Watch the Throne Tour…Or Coachella or Glow in the Dark or Runaway.. you know I have real ideas.”
Di Novi, however, said the tour comment was nothing more than a good-natured joke, especially because her production company is involved solely in the movie business. “We were just kind of joking about that,” said Di Nova, whose credits include “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and many Tim Burton films. “I don’t know if he would want to do that, but it was just a fun comment.”
What do you think Kanye would bring to a “Jetsons” movie? Let us know in the comments!

In ‘Twilight’ Tuesday, Twilighters tell MTV News their favorite moments.
By Kara Warner
Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn”
Photo: Summit
With “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ still crushing all competition at the box office, it’s clear from the film’s overwhelming fan support that the highly anticipated instant hit will be raking in more dough in the coming weeks and months.
In last week’s installment of “Twilight” Tuesday, we asked fans how many times they planned on seeing “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ in theaters, and their revelations were both impressive and astounding: One young woman had seen the film 19 times in the first six days and claimed that she wasn’t finished yet. So, with those multiple viewings in mind — and the dedicated masses who have now seen the film enough times to re-enact it from memory — today’s “Twilight” Tuesday is about fans’ favorite scenes.
As expected, plenty of folks had trouble selecting just one favorite scene from the action-packed, 117-minute movie. In addition to the three early favorites — the honeymoon scene, birth scene and wedding scene — according to our quick poll, fans seem happiest with the family toasts at Edward and Bella’s wedding and Jacob imprinting on Renesmee.
“Love wedding scene and Charlie’s speech, also Jake’s imprinting to Renesmee scene,” Daniela Imrichova said.
“I feel the wedding speeches were a well-thought addition 2 the movie – since it wasnt in the books. LUV Emmet’s the best!” gushed Kristen Grumbine.
“My favorite scene was Jake imprinting on Renesmee it really touched my heart that Jake finally found true love,” Christine Waters chimed in.
“Jacob imprinting its perfect. I’ve seen it four times so far and still cry,” admitted Desiree Kozlowski.
“I have already watched it 3 times. #Favoritepart = THE WHOLE MOVIE,” wrote Valentina.
“I will keep going till they stop playing it!! And my favorite scene?? The whole movie was amazing! #obsessed,” wrote Robyn Smyly.

Most critics praise film’s visuals and performances, although some take issue with its length.

Asa Butterfield in “Hugo”
Photo: Paramount Pictures
We’re big “Hugo” fans here in the MTV Newsroom, as we make clear over at Movies Blog, calling Martin Scorsese’s 3-D film a “love letter to cinema” and “like nothing you’ve ever seen from the Oscar-winning filmmaker before.”
We’re not the only ones raving about it. Critics are celebrating the movie’s bold visual style and strong performances. The only issue anyone seems to have with “Hugo” is that there’s just too much of it: The story — following the young orphan Hugo’s (Asa Butterfield) adventures in a 1930s Parisian metro station, his battles with the station inspector (Sacha Baron Cohen) and his friendship with a girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) also living in the station who is being raised by film pioneer Georges Méliès (Ben Kingsley) — chugs forward too slowly before finally springing to life. Read on for those critiques and more in our “Hugo” review roundup.
The Story ” ‘Hugo’ is the tale of a boy, one of fiction’s sentimental orphans, and the world he invents, yet, unsurprisingly, its most heartfelt passages are about Méliès. The old filmmaker is as broken and in need of revival as the automaton, and while you can guess what happens, it’s the getting there — how the clock is wound — that surprises and often delights. Waves of melancholy wash over the story and keep the treacle at bay, as do the spasms of broad comedy, much of it nimbly executed by Mr. Baron Cohen.” — Manohla Dargis, The New York Times
< b>The Visuals ” ‘Hugo’s’ use of the third dimension is exceptionally well thought out and essential to the film’s ability to make a children’s vision of the world come to life. Making that world a Parisian one has also inspired ‘Hugo’s’ visual team, led by production designer Dante Ferretti, and the film’s numerous shots floating over the rooftops of Paris are always fantastic. As with the original novel, the wordless parts of ‘Hugo,’ including a masterful re-creation of a famous train wreck, are very much its strength.” — Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
The Performances “Although he ultimately comes through with a winning performance, Butterfield, previously seen in ‘Son of Rambow’ and ‘The Wolfman,’ seems a bit stiff and uncertain in the early-going. … By contrast, Moretz (‘Kick-Ass,’ ‘Let Me In’), with her beaming warmth and great smile, is captivating as a girl who leaps at the chance for some adventure outside of books. Refusing to sentimentalize, Kingsley catches both the deeply submerged hurt and eventual pride of an artist long but not forever erased from history.” — Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter
The Finale “[D]uring ‘Hugo’s’ final 20 minutes or so, when Scorsese mounts a lavish reenactment of those early days of the art form, the film truly comes to life, as the story’s preoccupation with mechanics and logistical dot-connecting gives way to imagination, magic and swashes of lurid color. … With the director so clearly in his element and so affectionately in control, ‘Hugo’ ends as a triumph, bursting with the poetry, verve and irrepressible love befitting a match made in movie heaven.” — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post
The Final Word “[T]he story — period details and mysteries notwithstanding — is too slight to support this length. It’s an 80 minute bon bon struggling to break out of a two hour and ten minute souffle. Still, movie buffs, especially fans of early cinema history, will be transfixed by scenes in the latter acts — movie-making, as it was being invented. It’s why Scorsese chose to make the film. It’s where his heart truly is with this material. And it’s no surprise that this corner of his wondrous little picture is where he chose to take a cameo, immortalizing himself in the history of the medium he grew up loving and mastering.” — Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel

Can you stand it, “Twilight” fans? There are only a few hours until the premiere of an exclusive clip from “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” followed by a lengthy Q&A with stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as part of “MTV First: Breaking Dawn” tonight at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com.
For those dying to know more about the clip Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner will be introducing, we have a special sneak peek for you right here, right now. The clip opens with Bella’s mom entering the room in which Alice and Rosalie are helping Bella get ready for her wedding day.
“Crap, my mascara!” mom Renee Dwyer (Sarah Clarke) says when she sees Bella, at which point Alice hands her a tissue.
“Thanks,” she says, dabbing at her eyes. “Charlie, get in here!” she calls to Bella’s father (Billy Burke).
Charlie pops his head into the frame tentatively. “You sure?” he asks, at which point our teaser ends. Those in need of extra ogling and analysis can head over to Hollywood Crush for a photo from the clip, and then don’t forget to tune in to MTV at 7:56 p.m. tonight to see the clip in its entirety, followed by a Q&A with the “Twilight” trio on MTV.com.
We haven’t seen much from the highly anticipated nuptials between Bella and Edward, but Pattinson and co-star Peter Facinelli did tell us how pretty everything and everyone looked during filming.
“[Kristen] looked amazing,” Pattinson told us of seeing Stewart in Bella’s wedding dress. “I really didn’t do anything much but just stand there.”
“[The wedding scene was] beautiful and spectacular,” Facinelli chimed in. “It’s funny, because whenever we have a big important scene on ‘Twilight’ [movies], it rains. I was doing the baseball sequence [from 'Twilight'], and it was raining. But you never see it on film,” he said of the crew’s movie magic. “With this wedding, it rained the whole time we shot the two scenes. But you’ll never see it on film; they block out the rain. They put tarps up, and you’ll never see it. But for us, it was very wet and muddy and cold.”
Be sure to tune in to “MTV First: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” which kicks off tonight at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a Q&A with Kristen, Rob and Taylor on MTV.com!

During band’s rehearsal break for Sunday’s Movie Awards, we put Foos to the test.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you’d think the Foo Fighters — set to perform at Sunday’s Movie Awards — would know their “Potter” from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a “wand” reference and pinpoint its origin?
Right? Before we put MTV News’ magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a “Twilight” character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds? Read on — and click the video! — to see how the Foo Fighters fared when we caught up with them on the Universal Studios lot, shortly after they finished rehearsing their Movie Awards performance.
Our own Jim Cantiello played dungeon master as Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear were given a series of semi-famous lines and asked whether they originated with “Harry Potter,” the “Twilight Saga” or the lyrics of hard-rock pioneers Led Zeppelin.
Here’s a sampling of a few of those one-liners:
» “The elder wand, the most powerful wand ever made.”
» “Why don’t you let me be yours ever truly? Can I make your garden grow?”
» “You’re lying, Dolores! You mustn’t tell lies!”
Can you guess whether the lines above came from the “Potter” flicks, “Twilight” or Robert Plant?
Watch as the Foos try their best to do exactly that. Then tune in to the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday to catch the Foo Fighters rock the stage with their new single, “Walk.”
Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the “America’s Best Dance Crew” finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of “After Hours.”
